Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency is the flagship collaboration initiated by Gallery Dotwalk. The one-of-a-kind residency, located in the sprawling farmhouse of the Ajitara family, offers the most conducive environment to engage in artistic pursuits, away from all the chaos of the city. The residency provides dedicated studio spaces, co-working spaces, spacious bedrooms, a recreation room with audio and video facilities, a library, and a fully functional kitchen with pre-fixed menus. Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency offers curated residency modules with various outreach programmes and unlike many residencies, the creative outputs lead to curated annual exhibitions.
Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency aims to create a space that brings together diverse individuals and disciplines, fostering artistic exploration, education and community. We strive to inspire and empower all who enter our doors while promoting cultural understanding and embracing innovation. Our core principles include celebrating diversity in the arts, encouraging creative growth, facilitating collaborative exchange and promoting an environment of openness and progress, focusing specifically on contemporary painting and drawing practices.

In this two month residency, Summer Illumination, artists will mainly focus on the language of light in artistic practice. The play of light, the luminescence of cosmic entities, the clarity of atmosphere and the intensity of bright shimmering rays inspire the thematics of our first batch.
Hosted in a creatively nurturing environment the artists-in-residence will develop peer to peer exchange on the conceptual aspects of capturing atmosphere and ambience in paintings and drawings. To enhance their technical and conceptual understanding DAAR will facilitate one-on-one mentorship sessions with established artists, film screenings, artist presentations, guided tours and immersive experiences in the surrounding natural landscapes.

Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency offers two-month residencies for artists to fully immerse themselves in a nurturing and vibrant artist residency. Winter Solace aims to explore out-of-the-box painting surfaces and substrates, sharing their wealth of knowledge and perspectives. From unconventional materials like found objects and fabrics, to more traditional options, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with a diverse range of materials under the guidance of experienced mentors. The residency is designed to encourage personal and creative growth, as well as collaboration among residents. The program includes access to studio space, living quarters, mentorship, research opportunities, guided excursions and the potential to showcase work in a curated exhibition.
The first, two week workshop organised by Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency, as part of its annual residency programme “Transient Terrains”, features established contemporary artists, where they will share their knowledge and techniques for capturing atmosphere and ambiance in oil painting. The two-week program will consist of in-depth discussions, film screenings, site visits, live demonstrations, and practical exercises.
Through collaborative exploration and peer-to-peer learning, participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, techniques and experiences, enhancing their own artistic practice, and broadening their creative perspectives.
