Winter Solace 2025 2 Month Residency

Timeline: 15th October 2025 - 15th Dec 2025

Winter Solace 2025, organised under the Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency in New Delhi, is conceived as a reflective and process-oriented programme dedicated to painterly practices. The residency’s conceptual premise lies in nurturing an environment of material exploration, contemplation, and exchange, where young visual artists are encouraged to deepen their engagement with painting and drawing through both experimentation and critical reflection. Structured as a two-month immersive experience, Winter Solace 2025 provides a space that values slowness, introspection, and the unfolding of ideas within the studio. The programme supports artists through access to fully equipped studios, comfortable accommodation, mentorship from senior practitioners, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities that foster dialogue and collaboration. With financial support in the form of an honorarium and travel grant, the residency ensures inclusivity and accessibility for emerging artists across India. The culmination of the programme through open studios and public presentations allows participants to share their evolving practices with broader art networks, making Winter Solace 2025 an incubator for the next generation of painters and visual thinkers in the country

Illusion, Atmosphere & Perspective

2 Weeks Program

Timeline:22nd Sep 2025 - 6th october 2025

Number of artists: 4

‘Illusion, Atmosphere and Perspective’, curated by Sujith SN, is a two-week workshop under the Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency (DAAR), New Delhi. Envisioned as an intensive programme dedicated to senior artists, the residency foregrounds practices that continue to shape and expand the discourse of contemporary painting and visual art in India. Conceived as a reflective and dialogic space, it invites experienced practitioners to engage in focused studio work, share insights from their long-standing practices, and contribute to a culture of mentorship and artistic exchange. While providing a platform for senior artists to explore new ideas and material processes, the programme also positions their engagement as a vital support structure in sustaining DAAR’s broader ecosystem, particularly its biannual two-month residency programmes designed for younger artists. By fostering an environment of intergenerational dialogue and collaboration, ‘Illusion, Atmosphere and Perspective’, curated by Sujith SN, seeks to strengthen the continuum of artistic learning and knowledge-sharing within the field of contemporary visual arts. The residency provides well-equipped studios, comfortable living spaces, and opportunities for exchange with emerging practitioners, thereby creating a mutually enriching framework that reinforces DAAR’s enduring commitment to nurturing artistic growth, experimentation, and community-building.

Summer Illumination 2025 2 month Residency programme

Timeline: 05th March 2025 - 04th May 2025

In this two month residency, Summer Illumination, artists will mainly focus on the language of light in artistic practice. The play of light, the luminescence of cosmic entities, the clarity of atmosphere and the intensity of bright shimmering rays inspire the thematics of our first batch.

Hosted in a creatively nurturing environment the artists-in-residence will develop peer to peer exchange on the conceptual aspects of capturing atmosphere and ambience in paintings and drawings. To enhance their technical and conceptual understanding DAAR will facilitate one-on-one mentorship sessions with established artists, film screenings, artist presentations, guided tours and immersive experiences in the surrounding natural landscapes.
