Winter Solace 2025 2 Month Residency

Timeline: 15th October 2025 - 15th Dec 2025

Winter Solace 2025, organised under the Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency in New Delhi, is conceived as a reflective and process-oriented programme dedicated to painterly practices. The residency’s conceptual premise lies in nurturing an environment of material exploration, contemplation, and exchange, where young visual artists are encouraged to deepen their engagement with painting and drawing through both experimentation and critical reflection. Structured as a two-month immersive experience, Winter Solace 2025 provides a space that values slowness, introspection, and the unfolding of ideas within the studio. The programme supports artists through access to fully equipped studios, comfortable accommodation, mentorship from senior practitioners, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities that foster dialogue and collaboration. With financial support in the form of an honorarium and travel grant, the residency ensures inclusivity and accessibility for emerging artists across India. The culmination of the programme through open studios and public presentations allows participants to share their evolving practices with broader art networks, making Winter Solace 2025 an incubator for the next generation of painters and visual thinkers in the country

Illusion, Atmosphere & Perspective

2 Weeks Program

Timeline:22nd Sep 2025 - 6th october 2025

Number of artists: 4

‘Illusion, Atmosphere and Perspective’, curated by Sujith SN, is a two-week workshop under the Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency (DAAR), New Delhi. Envisioned as an intensive programme dedicated to senior artists, the residency foregrounds practices that continue to shape and expand the discourse of contemporary painting and visual art in India. Conceived as a reflective and dialogic space, it invites experienced practitioners to engage in focused studio work, share insights from their long-standing practices, and contribute to a culture of mentorship and artistic exchange. While providing a platform for senior artists to explore new ideas and material processes, the programme also positions their engagement as a vital support structure in sustaining DAAR’s broader ecosystem, particularly its biannual two-month residency programmes designed for younger artists. By fostering an environment of intergenerational dialogue and collaboration, ‘Illusion, Atmosphere and Perspective’, curated by Sujith SN, seeks to strengthen the continuum of artistic learning and knowledge-sharing within the field of contemporary visual arts. The residency provides well-equipped studios, comfortable living spaces, and opportunities for exchange with emerging practitioners, thereby creating a mutually enriching framework that reinforces DAAR’s enduring commitment to nurturing artistic growth, experimentation, and community-building.

Indo-Swiss Art Residency "Of Barriers and Distances” 2 Weeks Program

24 July to 7 August, 2024

The programme encompasses an intense, two weeks long residency that brings together five Swiss and Indian artists to reflect upon the theme ‘Of Barriers and Distances’ and its meaning in today’s world, through their own works and art practice. The project is led by Parvez, an artist and curator of Indian origin, currently based in Switzerland.

The Residency; imagined as a space for reflection, questioning and connecting, is structured into three segments.

1. Sharing and connecting

Crossing barriers and overcoming cultural distances.

The Swiss and Indian artists bring with them their own contexts, challenges and ways of dealing with the barriers they faced / still face. During the first few days, the residents share their artistic practice and its context with each other in structured intensive sessions.

2. Public discourse

"Of Barriers and Distances"

Two panel discussions, open to the public, are organised at the Gallery Dotwalk, Gurugram, Delhi NCR. Participants include resident artists and invited guest speakers; Prof. Santhosh S. and Prof. Brahma Prakash.

3. Exhibition

A month-long exhibition, showcasing the works of the resident artists, to reflect further upon the central theme, at Gallery Dotwalk.

The project thus offers a humble ground to forge connections between the resident artists, not only across two continents and their cultures but also across different regions within the subcontinent. It hopes to trigger possibilities for further explorations in future. It looks at content production from a socio-cultural perspective and puts the discourse in public.

The programme is supported by Embassy of Switzerland in India under the initiative SwitzerlandIndia75

Transient Terrains 2024-25

The name "Transient Terrains" emphasizes the fleeting and ever-evolving nature of artistic growth. It reminds us to embrace the impermanence of our creative journeys as we navigate through constantly changing landscapes of inspiration and enlightenment. Focusing on the idea of "moments," the theme emphasizes the importance of personal encounters and realizations that shape an artist's path. It encourages artists to contemplate significant moments of revelation, understanding, and evolution that occur during their residency, motivating them to capture these fleeting instances through their art. The word "terrains" serves as a symbol for the complex and ever-changing state of the creative world. It encompasses the various influences, obstacles, and moments that artists encounter while traveling on their artistic path. The theme invites artists to delve into the figurative terrains of feelings, recollections, self-discovery, and inventiveness, understanding that each holds its own fleeting magnificence and meaning.
